Academic Knowledge
A strong academic education is a key foundation for a student’s success in subsequent schools. Such education is one of the main factors considered by post-elementary private schools and public school special programs in determining which students will be accepted. Further, a good academic foundation provides tools that the children will need to pursue their lives.
Our norm is called the Cascadia Standard of Academic Achievement. Our standard is equivalent to an accelerated program.
Cascadia’s curriculum emphasis is first on the academic foundation subjects:
• Reading
• Spelling
• Language Arts and Writing
• Mathematics and Problem Solving
Other academic subjects are also strongly supported in the curriculum:
• History and Social Studies
• Physical Geography
• Science
Blended into daily activities is instruction in key skill areas:
• Computer Skills
• Library Use
• Reference Skills
